How to work with the New Moon in Taurus (May 7, 2024) as a Witch

I know that most people recommend doing spells and rituals for new beginnings on New Moons and I usually do that, too. But for this particular New Moon I would highly recommend doing a grounding ritual!

Why?

Because the Moon squares Pluto before this New Moon in Taurus occurs, which might bring fears about not feeling safe or rooted in your own body, so this really is the perfect time to do a ritual to ground your energy! Honestly you can NEVER do enough grounding as Witch.

Grounding is SO important when you practice Witchcraft! Casting spells and doing rituals means to move energy in a very powerful way - because magick is energy just like everything else in this Universe is.

But if you, the one who’s guiding the energy, are not steadfast and secure in yourself, it will affect your Witchcraft practice and chances are high that your spells and rituals will not have the desired effect, have a completely different effect than you planned or even pull your very own energy out of balance. So when you are grounded, you can practice magick safely.

Grounding Ritual for the New Moon in Taurus

Here is a simple grounding ritual that I love doing regularly!

sit down & close your eyes
imagine a bright white light (see, feel, smell, hear or know it - it is different for everyone)
breathe this light in through your nose & into your body all the way down into your womb / root chakra & into your feet
now imagine light roots coming out of your feet and let them grow into the warm, grounding energy of Mother Earth
(I see an orange ball of light, but it could be different for you)
once you feel calm & secure in the connection with mother earth, grab a candle (green, brown or any other color that reminds you of nature)
you could also prepare this candle by dressing it with flowers, oils & herbs
use an iron nail (or any other tool from your practice for that purpose) & carve sigils, words or symbols into the candle that represent security for you
to give your candle ritual even more magick, let the fire help you burn your intention: write from the wick towards the bottom of the candle. The fire then writes your letters word for word
imagine your roots getting bigger and stronger, grounding you even more into Mother Earth, while the candle is burning down
sit with the candle until it has burnt down
optional: you can also write down any fears you have in regard to abundance & feeling safe (not having enough x, feeling insecure, ...) on a piece of paper, burn it safely in a fire proof cauldron with the fire of the candle before it has fully burnt down

P.S. The moon won't be visible on May 7, because it basically is still in its dark moon state. So I would recommend doing any other spells (spells for new beginnings, abundance, …) & rituals 3-4 days after May 7.🌙✨
